Georganne Alex designs under the label ALEX. She has a life long love of textiles and began working in the design world in 1984. She is recognized for her combination of vintage kimono fabric and contemporary silk by weaving the two fibers together. Her use of the pin weaving technique allows one to see and appreciate the unique qualities and beauty of the individual fabrics.

ALEX designs can be seen in fine galleries, boutiques and museums throughout the United States. Her work has been exhibited and sold in Japan, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. She has participated in American craft shows such the American Craft Council in San Francisco and Baltimore, the Smithsonian Show in Washington, DC, the Contemporary Crafts Market in Santa Monica and San Francisco.
The designs of ALEX has been viewed in two traveling exhibitions: Hello Again! A New Wave of Recycled Art and Design and Refuse. The focus of these exhibitions was the creative (re)use of pre-existing materials. Alex has, at the heart of her work, a deep respect for the environment and a fascination for the transformation of old into new.
Georganne Alex studied fashion design and marketing at Woodbury University. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from California State University at Long Beach. Ms. Alex acquired her Masters Degree in Psychology at Antioch University, Los Angeles and became a licensed Marriage therapist in 1980. She enjoys the balance created by the exploration of psychotherapy and the creative arts.
